Our team were the appointed Civil and Structural engineering consultant in the design of the 4-phase Airside Business Park, a science and technology complex, which is situated on a 15 hectare site. Our role included the full design, detailing and construction inspection of 8 buildings (of total area 31,374m2 and ranging in height from two-storeys to six-storeys), over 780 associated surface and basement car-parking spaces, package treatment plants and 1km of public roadway. Airside Business Park fulfils current demands for high specification, flexible and economic office spaces, by providing features such as architectural lighting, high efficiency lighting, solar thermal collection and fully air-conditioned offices. Two different structural systems were implemented during the 4 phases; System 1 consisted of steel framed structure with pre-cast concrete floors and steel cladding to the walls and roofs. System 2 consisted of a reinforced concrete structure with flat slab construction and stone and glass elevations. All the buildings were designed, and constructed, to accommodate change of use, that is, from a single corporate headquarters to a subdivided structure consisting of multi-tenancy units per floor. Our role also included planning permission application negotiations with Local Authorities, tender documentation and fit outs in a number of units. We have completed planning applications for a number of proposed future phases.
