Rebuilding Ireland

Rebuilding Ireland- the Government’s Action Plan on Housing and Homelessness has been launched by Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Housing Minister Simon Coveney, Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohue and Minister of State Damien English.

The aim is-

  • to considerably increase the supply of social housing
  • to double the output of overall housing from the current levels to at least 25,000 per annum
  • to service all tenure types
  • to tackle homelessness in a comprehensive manner

The Plan is comprehensive and it looks at all aspects of the housing system under five Pillars:

  1. Address Homelessness
  2. Accelerate Social Housing
  3. Build more Homes
  4. Improve the Rental Sector
  5. Utilise Existing Housing
